The Teacher (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

A 19 track film scores album (38m 6s) — released March 7th 2025 on Sight Unseen

TThe Teacher (Original Film Soundtrack) featuring music by International Film Music Critics Breakthrough Composer nominee Alex Baranowski (The Kitchen, True Things, Midas Man).

THE TEACHER is the debut feature from Oscar nominated and BAFTA winning director Farah Nabulsi. Winner of multiple audience and critics awards it was in the official selection for Toronto International Film Festival in 2023.

The score was written and recorded at Alex's London studio with long time collaborators David Juritz (solo violin) and Maddie Cutter (solo cello) complimenting a very small scale supporting ensemble of tape loops, harp and vintage synthesisers.

Alex says of the score, "When Farah first showed me an early cut of this film, it was over three hours long, with almost no music on it. On first viewing with such a raw and moving story, I felt like it didn't need much score at all".

"As the edit was finessed and cut down in the following months, I wanted every note to embody the characters and narrative when the score did appear - small melodic phrases & themes developed around the solo violin and cello that flourished and withered along with the characters journey. It meant that when there were spaces in the film where the score could breathe, away from dialogue, we could really concentrate on making them significant for the story."

The score is available digitally released on Alex's own label Sight Unseen on the 7th March.
