Trying Not to Forget

Award winning composer Alex Baranowski releases the first and only single from an EP of new material recorded at AIR Studios Hall in London. After his recent "Portrait" album collaboration with virtuoso violinist Angèle Dubeau (released in November with Analekta), an award winning score for The Bureau's TRUE THINGS (Soundtrack released by Sony Classical), a collaboration with renowned saxophonist Jess Gillam, and forthcoming scores for HBO's RAIN DOGS and Film 4's A GAZA WEEKEND, "Trying Not To Forget" became the basis of a collaboration with choreographer David Dawson for LEGACY VARIATIONS which was performed live at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam in December 2022.

"The EP was inspired by my Grandparents, Polish immigrants who came to the UK after WW2. On my father's side, my Grandfather was a musician and poet, and my Grandmother a painter (the oil palette she left in her studio when she died makes up the cover of the EP). They bought me my first violin and paid for lessons at six years old. Whilst writing, I spent a lot of time thinking about the creative passions they had passed down to me as a child, and what in turn I was passing down to my own children at that very moment."
